Dr. Laura Romano, DVM, DACVSMR
Laura is a specialist in Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation with a career dedicated to advancing animal rehabilitation practices. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 1994, immediately beginning her private practice in Victoria, BC. Dr. Romano spent two decades as a senior partner in a multi-veterinarian practice in Calgary, Alberta, before returning to Victoria in 2020.
Her passion for rehabilitation began in veterinary school, leading her to obtain certifications in chiropractic (1996), acupuncture (2003), rehabilitation (2004), and advanced chiropractic neurology (2007). In 2016, she achieved diplomat status in the American College of Veterinary Sports
Medicine and Rehabilitation, reflecting her commitment to expertise in this evolving field.
Dr. Romano has authored several peer-reviewed papers on rehabilitation and musculoskeletal health, sharing her knowledge through her writing and lectures. She currently leads the Rehabilitation Department at VCA Canada Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital, working collaboratively with other specialists and educating veterinarians in her department and internationally on the latest advancements in animal rehabilitation.
